The Two-Percent Project

It’s a statistic that’s quoted often: Only 2% of teen moms receive a college degree before they turn 30.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a problem? Becoming a parent should not derail your education, but for so many teen mothers, that’s exactly what happens. Combine inadequate access to childcare, minimal emotional and material support, mental weariness and unaccommodating faculty and staff and there’s no wonder the number of teen moms pursuing and graduating from college is so low.

We can do better.

An offshoot of the work done with the Young Mom Summit and TheYoungMommyLife.com is the Two Percent Project, where we identify ways to increase the number of teen moms who are college graduates.
